Scene Local_Oct 2018

Amanda Morales October 12, 2018

Scene Local is an IIDA industry event located in a three story warehouse space in San Francisco. Wherein five vignettes are created by top design firms in San Francisco. Each vignette’s products are provided by partnering vendors. The goal is to create an experiential pop-up design in alignment with the over-arching design theme. Theme for 2018, Designing for the Future.

Foscarini was paired with leading SF design firm VDTA. Their vision — a retro-inspired future where autonomous transportation has become the norm.

“As we reinterpreted the future of neighborhood transit hubs, Scene Local gave me the ability to grow as a designer and leader. We were able to utilize materials in unconventional ways to create an inviting and playful scene. I enjoyed building relationships with our collaborators and learning more about their niche to create a complementary scene.”

— Siobhan Klinkenberg, VDTA Designer

As the event sole correspondent between designers & manufacturer, I partnered with VDTA on the project to procure & provide technical feedback on design implementation. Also on IIDA San Francisco City Center’s committee as acting co-events chair for the event.
